At the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Dover is approximately 35 miles from Manhattan. The town is located in the center of Northern New Jersey in Morris County.
Dover is bounded by the communities of Wharton, Mine Hill, Randolph Township, Rockaway Township, Victory Gardens and Rockaway Borough.
